As the cold weather increases, the days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer. You might be feeling the grind of the rat race pulling you down. When you leave for work in the morning and it’s dark, and you leave work to come home and it’s dark it’s easy to get despondent. If you are feeling anything like this then, it might be time for you to think about taking a holiday. Taking breaks, even for a weekend can do wonders to reinvigorate us. If you feel like you need a vacation, it might be time to get away for a while.

There is so much variety these days, from DIY breaks to package deals; there is bound to be something for everyone. Whether you want to travel across the globe or stay closer to home, it’s no doubt that holidays can enrich your life.

The only trouble is that taking a holiday can be a very expensive venture. It is important not to get too carried away. Make sure you are not living outside of your means. If you can afford to use a private jet charters service, you may not need to worry too much about expense. But if you are the other end of the spectrum then it will be important to cut out frivolous spending.

Luckily there are some ways that you can use to holiday for less:

Go All-Inclusive

All-inclusive holidays are becoming increasingly more popular these days and for good reason. Self-catered trips often seem cheaper as they cost less outright. But you need to account for food and drink expenditure. This can be one of the biggest holiday expenses. With an all inclusive trip all your food, drink and snacks are included in the cost of the holiday.

You will not have to leave the hotel every night to find somewhere to have dinner. But the beauty of all-inclusive is that it is flexible. If you want to spend a couple of days or nights away from the hotel then you have the option to do so. You may decide to go out for dinner one night. The money you will have saved from choosing all inclusive will no doubt help with this.

Another advantage of selecting an all-inclusive holiday is the convenience it provides. If you travel as a family and you have young children, you may not want to worry about cooking for the family. You may even be too tired to do so. All-inclusive takes that worry away and ensures you and your family are well fed all trip.

All-inclusive means you don’t have to worry about meals whilst you are there, but also offers you a degree of flexibility. In the long run, you will most likely save more money from an all-inclusive holiday than a self catered one.

Overseas Spending Card

If you are money conscious, it might be worth your time getting ahold of an overseas spending card. These are available from most banks and building societies. Regular bank cards carry high interest rates if you use them abroad. They also add extra cost to the exchange rate. Overseas cards do not, meaning you will get the exact exchange rate when you take money out.

Get ahold of one purely for your holiday and make sure you repay in full when the time comes. You will want to apply in time to receive the card before you go on your trip.

Compare Flights

There are so many flight comparison sites on the internet that it seems silly not to check out comparisons before booking. Most sites will do the work for you based on your details and provide you with the cheapest available flights.

Making sure you book as early as possible will save you significant costs and will help avoid disappointment. Also try to make sure that the flights are protected under ATOL and ABTA. These organisations give you cover and will lead to a refund should your airline go under or your flights fall through.
